Scope: 

This method statement describes the activities and process of Sliding Folding Doors installation works for School Project works include preparation, installation and protection as per the project requirement.  

The purpose of this method statement is to conduct a systematic work execution for the Sliding Folding Doors installation works for that will produce and deliver a safe execution procedure in accordance with the approved Standards/Specifications and Lifting procedure.  

It is the Policy of "Company Name" to provide a safe and healthy place of employment. In areas where scaffolding is to be erected, dismantled, altered, moved or accessed for any purpose, the following procedure shall be utilized. 


Activities: 

Sliding folding Doors installation works will comprise the following activities 

  • Preparation. 
  • Installation. 

Purpose: 

The purpose of this document is to ensure that the standards and specification of the School Project and that of "Company Name" is effectively implemented during the process of Sliding Folding Doors installation works. This method statement provides the necessary support to the team with relevant information regarding the specific project requirement and a guideline for a procedure to work safely. 


Communication: 

The contents of this method statement shall be explained and demonstrated to all involved personnel based on specific task allocation. Site Engineer / Supervisor, subcontractors’ signatures shall be taken on the approved method statement as a matter of record.  Daily (at the start of each shift) the Works Supervisor and HSEO will complete a Pre-works briefing with ALL labor based on the activities to be complete in the shift (pre-works briefing will be signed by ALL labor to demonstrate that they have understood the activities and associated controls. They will then complete a site walk to ensure and verify that all the controls are in place. Both the RAMS and Pre-works briefing will be located on site with the Works Supervisor for reference and review. 


Construction Methodology: 

Storage and Handling: 

• The material (Sliding folding Doors and Accessories) shall be ordered from the approved sources/supplier with all necessary documentation as required.   

• Once offloaded the materials shall be checked against the documentation to ensure compliance. Once the delivery order and other relevant documents have been stamped with acceptance by the CONTRACTOR QCE/Store keeper, the material shall be stocked in the storage yards/ lay down area. 

• Protect material from deterioration during delivery and while stored at site. 

• All materials shall be protected against the inclusion of foreign matter, water and other damages at all times. 

• Storage the materials in accordance with the approved manufacturer requirements so that doors will not be damaged by excessive changes in temperature, relative humidity and moisture content. 

• Store doors on a flat level surface in protected & elevated dry areas, protected from exposure for all sources of moisture & direct sunlight. 

• MIR shall be submitted along with relevant documents prior to proceeding. 


Key Materials: 

• Sliding folding Doors sets. 

• Accessories for installation. 


Site Preparation: 

• Ensure the sliding folding door with the door schedule and door types elevations for size, ironmongery, acoustic, and fire rating requirements before commence the works. 

• Ensure that the materials are per approved material submittals, clean and free from damage, suitable for installation. 

• Inspect & verify substrate that it is in good condition & ready to receive the work activities.  

• Prior to commence with door & frames installation ensure concrete work, masonry work (i.e. plastering, tile, marble etc.) were completed and dry.  

• Check substrate and verify if the plastering for the masonry opening and tile setting are completed.  

• Ensure that doors location & verify the dimension of opening as indicated in the approved shop drawing & schedule.  

• Check door openings for level, plumb and square prior to proceed with installation. 


Installation:  

• Ensure that sliding folding door set as per approved door schedule, detail elevations, and details. 

• Ensure the all delivered doors and frames has been inspected by consultant and clients.  

• Mock-up shall be made to obtain consultant and clients approval at the actual scope of work and first inspection will be considered as mockup. 

• Prior to setting of frames, bottom of the frames must be coordinated with the level of doorsill, uniform clearance to the finish floor level as per approved shop drawing.  

• Ensure proper alignment (Le. plumb & level) of the door frame using plumb bob & spirit level. 

• Secure the frame temporarily using timber wedges. Adjust the position of the wedges in order to obtain the required vertical and horizontal alignment

• Maintain uniform clearance or gaps between wall and door frame to receive the wall finishes as per approved shop drawing.  

• Sliding folder door frame shall be seals to meet performance requirements in line with manufacturer's standards as per approved detail elevations, and details. 

• Gaps between frames and supporting construction shall be fill as necessary in accordance with requirements for certification, and/ or door and door set manufacturer's instructions. 

• After verification of frame alignment, fasten the frame in position using approved fixation material (wall fisher, Anchor, etc.).  

• All Fasteners shall be in line with manufacturer's standards and details for positioning of the door within the structure as per approved detail elevations, and details. 

Timber bracing may be used to support and maintain the alignment of the door frame. 

Grout or seal the gap between wall and door frame as per approved seal materials or approved grout filling materials.  

• Do not remove any props/bracing and wedges until grouting & plastering has been cured.  

• Do not install door leaf until concrete, masonry, plaster, tile and other wet work are completed and dried in areas to receive door leafs.  

• Install and hang the door leaf using approved number of hinges as per approved shop drawing and approved materials.  

• Sliding folder door leaf shall be seals to meet performance requirements in line with manufacturer's standards as per approved detail elevations, and details 

• Adjust door installation to provide uniform clearance as per approved shop drawing at head & jambs, and to contact stops uniformly.  

• The gap between the door and frame must be suitable for the intumescent seal. It should not exceed 3 mm along the two long edges and along the top of the of the door leaf (tolerance of +-1 mm). There is often a gap between the back of a frame and the reveal into which it is fitted. This gap should be within tolerances set by the door or door set manufacturer as per approved detail elevations, and details. 

• Remove and replace doors which are found to be warped, bowed or defective/damaged and cannot be properly fitted in frames.  

• Confirm the correct set of hardware to be installed on the door against the approved door hardware schedule.  

• Approved hardware set will be installed in accordance with the approved manufacturer’s manual and instructions for each set of ironmongery.


Cleaning and Handover: 

• When all the activities are completed, the area will be cleaned thoroughly. Once the cleaning is done and approved, a "Request for Inspection" will be raised for acceptance.


House Keeping: 

• Safety Engineer shall ensure to maintain safety for all aspects. 

• Safety assistant are allocated all the site locations to maintain housekeeping. 

• All demolished/removed material to be disposed in one allocated area for pick-up/removal from site.
